Environmental Performance

We seek to decrease electricity consumption, maintaining indicators and consumption targets that allow an effective use of energy. To this end, we monitor the operational efficiencies of the plant's main equipment (furnaces, mills, and breakers). The state-of-the-art technology model at the Tepetzingo plant has been instituted and improved at the Cerritos and Apazapan plants with optimal results.

Thanks to the modern design of our plants, we have an optimal environmental performance and give full compliance to the corresponding regulations (NOM-040-SEMARNAT). We have established a continuous measurement program which makes it easier to identify any event that could negatively reflect in its impact on the environment.

This evaluation will allow us to give timely attention and design the necessary action plans for reestablishing the environmental standards with which we have committed. Thereof, by facing the future, we face the challenge of constantly reducing our emissions.

We implement waste separation plans, which allow their use and better management. Part of these residues are prerocessed in our ovens (reducing the impact the mismanagement could have) and other part is sent for its recycling or reuse in other industries.

We have an optimal water consumption in our different production facilities for having an efficient use of this vital liquid. Our consumption is close cycle, keeping water treatment systems, which makes its permanence within recycle possible during the operation, thus reducing the extraction requirements.

The wastewater control of the services is carried out in three water treatment plants. These treated waters, instead of being discharged to the sewage system, in the irrigation of green areas and roads in their pits, where raw materials are transported, which also reduces the dust emission.

In our cement plants, we have nurseries where native species from each region are grown; they are used to reforest / restore various areas.

We have plans for rescuing and chasing away wildlife, and they implemented ecology techniques, which allow safeguarding the physical integrity of individuals and animal populations, contributing to the preservation of these species.

Through talks with the company staff and contractors, we maintain awareness schemes for the care and preservation of the flora and fauna within, and in areas surrounding the production facilities.

Regarding the emission of Greenhouse Gases (GHG), we are constantly looking for projects to reduce the consumption of thermal energy. We have also achieved a better clinker-cement relationship, with the usual benefit in terms of reducing direct CO2 emissions per ton of cement produced.

In addition, our efficiency in electricity consumption allows us to reduce the indirect emissions emitted to generate the electrical energy we consume.
